Good morning, dear judges. I’m No.1 candidate. It's my great honor to have this opportunity to talk about my teaching ideas. The lesson I’m going to share is unit 5 “Do you want to watch a game show?” I will divide this lesson into six parts.

I. Analysis of Teaching Materials

This lesson is from section A, Unit 5 of PEP English book, grade 8. And this lesson mainly talks about the preference. This lesson is the first part of this unit, so it is very essential for students’ further study. After learning this lesson, students can know how to ask and answer preferences.

II. Analysis of Students

Students of this period have developed their logical thinking ability and abstract thinking ability, easy material related to daily life will be less attractive, they prefer more complicated topics to the normal, daily topics. As this teacher, I will choose various ways to stimulate their learning interest.

III. Analysis of Teaching Aims/Teaching Key and Difficult Points

I set three teaching aims according to the idea of New Curriculum Standard in English:

Knowledge Aims: Students will grasp some new expressions of preference like “love, like,don’t mind, don’t like, can’t stand”.

Ability Aim: Students can use the knowledge they learned to express their preference.

Emotional Aim: Students can correspond the English of preference with Chinese, which will help them develop the cross-culture thinking ability.

According to the analysis above, I set the key points and difficult points as following:

Teaching Key Point: Students can comprehend the new phrases like “love, like, don’t mind,don’t like, can’t stand”.Teaching Difficult Point: Students will be able to use the phrases and sentences to ask and answering preference.

IV. Analysis of Teaching and Learning Methods

According to the teaching aims and the feature of my students, communicative teaching method, and Task-based Teaching Method will be adopted. As for learning method, students can learn this lesson by autonomous learning, cooperation and exploration. Through this step, students’confidence and communicative ability would be enhanced.

V. Analysis of Teaching Procedures

This is the most important part in this design, it can be divided into following steps:

Step 1 Lead-in

Firstly, I will greet students, then I will show a video of Talent Show and ask students which participant they will pick using sentence patterns “What do you think of the participants?” “Do you want to choose…?” “Why?”

It’s helpful to let students join in the class that teacher use video to stimulate their auditory sense and visual sense.

Step 2 Pre-listening

I will present some phrases and sentence patterns like “love, like, don’t mind, don’t like, can’t stand” and tell students: “You can use the knowledge we learned to express your preference.”

In this way students can have a happy, relaxing and pleasant atmosphere.

Step 3 While-listening

I will play the recorder twice.

1. Extensive Listening

For the first time, students can answer the question, “What’s the main idea of the passage?”

2. Intensive Listening

Listen again, students must listen to the tape carefully and answer some questions about the details in the material. For example, draw faces on the blackboard to show whether Lisa likes the activities.

Step 4 Post-listening

Group work: Do a survey in your group and finish the chart.

Step 5 Summary Homework

Teacher and students summarize together.

Ask students to write a short article to express their preferences.

VI. Analysis of Blackboard Design

The last part is the analysis of blackboard design. A good blackboard design plays an important role in students’ study which will help students to catch the key content.
