Good afternoon, My dear judges!I am the third competitor. It’s my pleasure to stand here sharing my teaching plan with you. My plan is composed of several parts. First of all, I’ll talk about analysis of teaching material.
Part 1 Teaching Material:
My lesson is from New Senior English for China Book_2 Unit2.the main topic is about Olympic Games. By studying this unit, Students will know the difference of ancient and modern Olympic Games. The lesson is the first section of this unit, so it is very important for students’ further study.
Secondly, I’d like to state the analysis of students.
Part 2 Students
Students of this period have learned English for a long time, hence they acquire enough background knowledge. However, they are shy to speak English and they can’t express themselves correctly. Thus I will take special activity to help them.
Based on the analysis of teaching material and students as well as the new curriculum standard, I set aims as follows.
Part 3 Teaching Aim
1.Knowledge objects (语言目标:语音,词汇,语法,功能,话题)
The Ss can master the important words and expressions, such as admit, replace, responsibility, and know information about Olympics.
2.Ability objects (技能目标:听,说,读,写)
can improve their reading ability, especially skimming and scanning ability and use different reading strategies to grasp useful information in daily life.
3.Emotional objects (情感目标:兴趣,自信,合作,爱国,国际视野)
SS will widen their horizon about Olympic Games and be confident to speak English.
Part 4 the Key and Difficult Points
Next, I put forward the key points and difficult points. The key point is to master important words and expressions correctly. The difficult points are to improve their reading skills and increase their confidence in learning English.
Part 5 Teaching and Studying methods
For achieving the teaching aims above, I will mainly use Task-based Language Teaching and cooperation learning methods.
Part 6 Teaching Aids
Meanwhile, pictures, multi-media will be used in this class.
Part 7 Teaching Procedure
Now let’s come into the most important part of my plan. It consists of six parts.
Step1. Lead in
The first step is lead in. Boys and girls, do you like sports? Let’s make survey. What’s your favorite sport? Talk with your partner and know his /her favorite sport in 2 minutes. Time is up. Jelly and Tony have a presentation. Well done. Both of them are good at foot-ball. After class, you can compete with them in playing football. Today we will talk about an international sports competition---Olympic Games.
Through the sports survey, I can attract students’ attention and interest in computers, and it can lay a foundation for the next reading.
Step2. Pre-reading
In the pre-reading step, I will show some pictures about Olympics. Then ask them question what they know about Olympics. They can predict the content of the passage.
In this step, pictures can show make class vividly and their prediction will be trained.
Step3. While-reading
When they are reading, I will set 3 tasks.
Fast reading Task1. Skimming
SS will skim the passage quickly to check their prediction is right or not, and get the main
idea of the passage. One student will write his answer on the blackboard.
Purpose: By fast reading the passage, students can have a global understanding about computers and develop their skimming ability
Task 2.Scanning
Then I will ask SS to scan the passage and do the True or False exercises.
1.We hold Olympic Games every 4 years.
2.Every athlete can take part in Winter Olympic Games.
3.Woman can join in ancient Olympic Games.
4..There is a special village building for athletes.
5.The 2016 Olympic Games will be held in London.
During this part, I will teach some key words and phrases.
Replace, admit, responsibility.
Purpose: This task helps students get more information through key words and can improve their scanning ability.
Step2 Detailed reading
Now, let’s go to the detailed reading. I will ask students to read the passage carefully then fill in the table in 3 minutes. The table is about main ideas of each paragraph and supporting details.
I will invite one group to tell their answers one by one. If they do a great job, 3 points will be got.
Purpose: My design intends to help them get detailed information about Olympics and comprehend the passage deeply.
Step4. Post-reading
Task 1.Discussion
After reading the passage, I will make debate:
Do you support Hefei to apply for Olympic Games? G1 and G2 are affirmative part.G3 and G4 are appositive part. After 2 minutes discussion, the debate will begin. Five students will be judge to decide who the winner is.
Purpose: Debate used here is to develop their communicative skills and improve comprehensive ability of language usage.
Step5. Homework
After the post-reading step, I will ask students to conclude what we have learned today, then I will arrange homework.
will collect information about information about Olympic cities in the history. And predict the Olympics city in 2028.they should write down their reasons. They will share ideas in the next class. Homework is necessary to consolidate their knowledge and improve their writing skills.
At last, I will talk about my blackboard design.
In the right part, some key points and phrases. In the middle part, a time line. In the left part, an evaluation chart.
